I’ve been an artist my whole life. My granddaughter always tells me, “Grandpa, let's art!” I like that way of thinking.
My approach to art is simple. I do the best I can to make the most beautiful painting possible. My goal is to create something that connects with you on a personal and visceral level, to create something that causes you to stop, take it in, smile, laugh, and enjoy it every time you see it.
My artistic motivation may be straightforward, but my style is complex. I paint using a very traditional watercolor approach, often combined with a more complex “Joe style,” where I stack various watercolor images on top of one another to create a vibrant 3D effect.
I hope you found something in my shop that calls out to you, saying, “Hey, wait, over here! Me…me, you know you gotta take me home with you.” When that happens, I strongly encourage you to adopt that painting. If you didn’t find what you were looking for today, come back soon. Currently, Susan, my wife of 42 years, and I live in Missouri City, Texas. I will never know how she tolerates my art mess, but I am very glad that she does.
